Join the Vito Marcantonio Forum to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Marcantonio’s death @ Woodlawn Cemetery

The commemoration of Marc’s death will take place at his gravesite, where he is buried next to his wife, Miriam Sanders, and nearby his mentor, Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. The ceremony will feature
- Gerald Meyer (Hostos Com. Col.), author of Vito Marcantonio: Radical Politician, 1902-1954, will eulogize Marcantonio.
- Roberto Ragone, actor and business/cultural consultant, will dramatize a Marcantonio speech.
- Troy Hodges, actor, will interpret Paul Robeson’s eulogy.
Participants are invited to join VMF for pizzas and salads, after the event, at Giovanni’s (southwest corner of the Grand Concourse & 150th Street).
After the commemoration of Vito Marcantonio’s life, Susan Olsen, Director of Historical Services, will conduct a tour of Woodlawn, which will visit the resting places of progressive political and cultural figures such as Herman Melville, Countee Cullen, Celia Cruz, Duke Ellington, and Miles Davis.
LOCATION:Our meeting point is the last stop on the #4 train, a half block from Woodlawn Cemetery’s Gate House, 3700 Jerome Avenue Bronx, NY 10467 (intersection of Jerome and Bainbridge Avenues) at 1PM. Bring flowers and share your thoughts about Marc at the ceremony.
